Macrobiotic Nutrition: Food As Energy

Energy

Vibrant blue ocean wave in motion, showcasing the beauty and power of nature's aquatic forces.

Energy is the life force of the Universe and can also be observed everywhere in Nature. In Chinese it’s called “Chi”, in Japanese “Ki”, and in Hindu “Prahna”, while in the West energy is described as electromagnetic charge, vibration, or bioenergy.

All living things need energy to survive, be productive, and we all receive that energy from the food we eat. While some animals, for example black bears, can go up to 100 days without eating, most of us need three meals a day. That is a tremendous amount of food and energy needed to keep one human going for a full lifetime.

Besides the quantity, we also need to consider the quality of energy we need to function at optimum levels. Since the food we eat daily gives us energy, we should choose quality food which in return will give us quality energy.

Vegetables, spices, beans, grain, fruit, nuts, seeds, whole grains, whole foods, superfoods, plant-based nutrition, whole foods, healthy ingredients, antioxidant rich foods, fruits and vegetables, vegan superfoods, macrobiotic diet, natural health foods, high fiber ingredients, vitamins and minerals, clean eating, nut and seed variety, immune support, nutrition boost

Foods such as grains, beans, vegetables, sea vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fruit contain enzymes, proteins, complex carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals that properly nourish our bodies. Most importantly, they contain life force only found in whole foods.

The quality of energy we are getting from processed foods is not the same as the energy we get from whole foods. Processed foods tend to lack nutrients, create mucus and acidity in our bodies while whole foods encourage nutrient absorption, nourish and support organ and body system functions.

Macrobiotic nutrition promotes getting the best quality of energy out of our daily meals. It also recognizes unique energetic properties of individual foods and how to balance them together.

In our next posts we will continue to explore life giving energy, it’s existance in Nature, in our bodies, and how to use it to create healthy balance in our lives.
